Amid the media noise about today’s economic climate and corresponding U.S. Jobless Rate, you would that think it’d be easy to find a “right fit” for your virtual team. At least that’s what I thought. But, if you have ever been charged with the arduous task of identifying new associates for a virtual workplace, you know that’s not necessarily the case.
Sure, there are tons of people who would like to work from home. Simply Virtual is flooded with resumes from people all across the country who want flexibility and desire to make their own rules. It makes the job that much harder, to wade through the many well-intentioned, corporate trained folks who rarely consider how they might feel after cooking under the pressure of isolation, results focused productivity standards and stress that accompanies a typical work at home role.

“Live/Work housing offers end to commuter blues.” I recently saw this headline in the local business journal. As you can imagine, I got a big chuckle out of it. As a veteran virtual worker, I know better.
There are definite advantages to working from home. You pick your own brand of coffee, set your own dress code, play whatever background music you like and best of all . . . there’s no commute. However, if you work from home 3 or more days a week, you have probably become familiar a distinctive set of challenges I call the work at home blues or “WAH”.

There I said it. And (by gosh) published it, for all the world to know.
If you’re one of those nifty “plan ahead, always on deadline” type people, you are probably wondering how I manage a family and several successful businesses with such a dreadful habit.
The answer of course is delegation. If it were possible, delegation would be my answer for everything. Cooking, exercise, brushing my teeth . . . Oh, Jeeves? My good man, would you come here? Seriously though, I use any and all available resources to make “the magic” happen.
